EpoxySystems' Product #1004

Self Leveling Floor Topping

DESCRIPTION

EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 Self-Leveling Floor Topping is a one component copolymer modified cementitious topping. EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 is ready to use with only the addition of clean water to activate the polymer modified cement topping. EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 has a special blend of plasticizers to provide zero shrinkage, high flow and bonding properties necessary for floor topping.

ADVANTAGES

Preproportioned, one component, easy to use.
Self-leveling, fast hardening topping.
Excellent bond to prepared substrates.
One component prevents freezing of liquid polymer in cold weather and reduces the cost of shipping and storing the liquid.

USES: Architectural floor topping for a variety of floor finishes; such as: tiles coatings, carpeting, rubber and vinyl sheeting, requiring a smooth substrate.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 1 DAY 2 DAYS 28 DAYS

SURFACE PREPARATION

CONCRETE SURFACE: Concrete surfaces shall be cleaned to remove dirt, curing compounds, existing coatings or laitance to provide a clean, sound bonding surface. Cleaning may be accomplished with EpoxySystems’ Masonry Cleaner and water blasting, acid etching and water blasting, sandblasting, or other methods that would achieve a similar result.

PRIMING: Prime the surface with EpoxySystems’ Product #825 Floor Sealer prior to placement of the topping or repair. The advantage of a primer is to prevent air release from the subfloor rising and forming bubbles and pinholes on the surface of the EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 Self-Leveling Floor Topping. The prime coat is mixed at a ratio of (1) gallon (3.79L) EpoxySystems’ #825 Floor Sealer with (2) gallons (7.57 L) clean potable water and spread by brush or roller at a rate of 200-300 square feet (18.58 m2 -27.87 m2) per gallon. Apply topping material while EpoxySystems’ #825 Floor Sealer is tacky. If the prime coat drys prior to the placement of the EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004, apply a second coat of primer.

MIXING: Mixing should be accomplished with a slow speed drill and EpoxySystems’ Mixing Paddle. Each 55 lb (24.95 Kilo) bag of EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 requires the addition of 6.8 to 7.25 quarts (217 - 232 oz.) (6.44 - 6.44 L) of cool, clean water to produce a free flowing, self-leveling consistency. Measure out water and add to mixing container. Add EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 Powder while mixing. Mix the material for three minutes. When using drill type mixer, keep the mixing head well down in the liquid to avoid any entrapment of air. Do not mix for more than five minutes. For thickness over 1/2", EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 can be extended with EpoxySystems’ Product #75 Filler in equal portions. Do not add extra water.

APPLICATION

Pour mixed material onto primed substrate and spread with squeegee or trowel and allow to self-level. Any high spots can be pared off with the edge of a trowel after initial set. The required thickness must be achieved in one application. For best results, pouring and leveling should be continuous until area is completely leveled.

PACKAGING

EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 is packaged in 55 lb. (24.95 Kilo) bags and yields approximately 0.50 cubic feet. When placed at an approximate 1/4" thickness, EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 will cover 24 square feet. (2.23 m2)

LIMITATIONS

Working time is approximately 20 minutes at 70o F (21.1NC) . Higher temperatures reduce the work time. If mix stiffens, it should be discarded. On-grade slabs must have a damp proof membrane in the subfloor. Surface should be cool before applying EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004. Do not use below 40o F (4.4NC) . EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 should be protected from direct sunlight and strong wind for 2 - 4 hours.

YIELD

EPOXYSYSTEMS’ PRODUCT #1004 produces 0.50 cubic feet covering approximately 24 square feet at 1/4" thick. Material is packaged in 55 lb. (24.95 Kilo) bags.

CAUTION Contains Portland Cement and Silica. Avoid breathing dust. Cement powder or freshly mixed concrete, grout or mortar may cause skin injury.
