EpoxySystems' Product #1000

Fast Setting Trowelable Mortar

DESCRIPTION: MC1000 Fast Setting Trowelable Mortar with Migratory Corrosion Inhibitor is a one component trowelable patching mortar designed for overhead and vertical use. MC1000 is a special blend of fiber reinforced fast setting cement with silica fume, polymeric compounds and aggregates which achieves structural properties in a short time. MC1000 is ready to use with just the addition of clean water which activates the modified cement mortar.

ADVANTAGES:

· Very Fast Setting Cement Patching material for vertical and overhead use

· Single component - just add water to activate modified cement.

· Excellent bond to clean concrete and masonry surfaces.

· Can be applied in layers up to 3" thickness.

· Consistency of the material is controlled by the amount of water added.

· Not a vapor barrier.

· Fiber reinforced for high tensile strength.

· Extremely good abrasion resistance.

WHERE TO USE: Overhead and vertical patching mortar for: broken or spalled concrete, pavement, curbs, beams, underside of concrete bridges, repointing mortar, stucco. Ideal for setting beds on uneven surfaces where good gap filling properties are essential, and ideal for fast setting of brick pavers and tiles outdoors or indoors.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Remove all dirt, grease, oil laitance and curing compounds from concrete, mortar
and sand by sandblasting or mechanical roughening. On metals, remove grease, oil, rust and mill scale by abrasive blasting or wire brushing.

MIXING: Pour 135 fluid oz. (4.0 L) of water in pail or mortar mixer. In pail, mix with a slow speed drill and paddle, while adding MC1000 powder slowly to avoid lumps. (Do not over mix; three minutes is sufficient.) If a more plastic consistency is required, add additional water to mix. Should small quantities be required, be sure to use smaller quantities of water. Masonry surfaces or other absorbent surfaces should be dampened but free of standing water.

LIMITATIONS: Store in cool, dry place. Material should be stored at temperature of 40° F (4.4° C) or higher.

APPLICATION: Lowest application temperature is 40° F (4.4° C) at the time of application. Be sure mortar is mixed thoroughly to a uniform consistency. Trowel MC1000 Fast Setting Trowelable Mortar with Migratory Corrosion Inhibitor in prepared area and allow mortar to stiffen, then produce desired finish by using float or rubber gloves, forcing mortar in voids. If steel trowel finished is required, wet trowel with water. MC1000 should be protected for first 24 hours after placement from oil, acids, and alkalies. Protect from wind and heat for the first 24 hours. On very porous or weak surfaces, use EpoxySystems' Bond-Aid as a primer. To improve bond, apply Bond-Aid at a rate of 350 sq. ft (32.5 m˛)/gal. for brush application. For spray application, dilute with a small amount of water to a suitable spraying viscosity and apply at a rate of 250 sq. ft. (23.2 m˛)/gal. Primer will prevent mix water loss from MC1000 Mortar into hardened masonry.

If no primer is used, dampen masonry surface to which MC1000 is applied. On large surface areas, the use of a good curing compound, meeting ASTM C 309, Type I, or water curing is recommended.
