GENERAL DESCRIPTION Product #201 is a two component, epoxy-amine undercoating designed to be compatible with petroleum based oil and greases. In many instances petroleum can penetrate the surface of concrete floors to the extent that the oil may not be removed by surface cleaning. If untreated, this oil may migrate back to the surface to cause a delamination. ESI Product #201 mixes with the oil in the surface, penetrating deeply to tie up and lock in contamination leaving a clean surface for application of epoxy flooring and coating resins.
APPLICATIONS ESI Product #201 is suited as a primer for most ESI epoxy based products where petroleum oil based contamination cannot be fully removed. Among these applications are the following:
ADVANTAGES
SURFACE PREPARATION Concrete should be thoroughly degreased and solvent washed. Create a profile with a wire brush, scarifying, or abrasive blast. As much of the oil should be removed as possible. Surface must be sound. All loose or soft concrete must be removed.
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Temperature of Product #201 must be 60°F or above at time of mixing. Stir each component separately before blending. Pour Part A into a clean container and add Part B Stir for three minutes with a low speed electric drill motor equipped with a mixing paddle. Immediately begin application.
APPLICATION Product #201 can be applied with brush, or 3/8" nap roller.
DRY TIME ESI Product #201 will normally be ready to recoat in 8-10 hours. Top-coating before 8 hours can cause some slight bleeding of the Product #201 into the topcoat. For best results 16-24 hours should be given.
LIMITATIONS New concrete should be at least 28 days old. Temperature of substrate must be between 50°F and 90°F. DO NOT thin. For outdoor use contact Epoxy Systems, Inc. for technical assistance.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause eye and skin irritation. If contact occurs, wash immediately and seek medical help. Use safety glasses with side shields and wear protective rubber gloves.
CLEANING All tools and equipment should be cleaned before the system gels. Use MEK, Acetone, or any lacquer solvent.
